About

Nadia Kondratiev was born and grew up in the New York City of the 60s and 70s. After graduating from the Lycée Français de New York, she studied illustration and composition and printmaking at the Art Students' League. She also holds an MBA from Herriot Watt University.

When one evolves in a family where everyone draws and paints, pictorial expression is a natural means of communication. As such social and situational commentary seems most accurately depicted by visual expression. This is the reason Nadia Kondratiev chooses illustrative art most frequently, generally conveying a more or less blatant opinion.

Nadia often sees the humourous side of a situation, and hopes some will see the humour too.

Nadia has illustrated a children's book, her cartoons have been published in New York and in Scotland. She also does photography, set design and costume design.

Nadia Kondratiev is also a sound engineer, having worked in studios, for radio and television, and for live shows, recording and editing music and voice. She has also been responsible for a television transmitter, one of the last transmitter operators to sit alone with the transmitter in question for several days at a time, alone on a mountain in the desert, not far from Yuma, Arizona.
